It is letter that can ONLY be precribed by a mental health professional to patients who meet specific ADA criteria. The patient must have a diagnosable behavioral/mental health condition that has a significant negative impact on their daily function. Absolutely! Once you have met and established care with an MHP we encourage you to explore other options that can be added to your current treatment plan. Most MHP's or providers will request routine check ins. We reommend a minimum 6 month follow up appointment. If your current provider isn't doing this, we suggest you find a new provider.

Just like any other prescription, an ESA/PSD letter is proof that your support/service animal is part of your treatment plan. This can be used to request special accomodations is housing, travel, work, or access to public places that would normally restrict animals.
